The Humanities and Responsible AI Research in the USA

What challenges and opportunities does Responsible AI research present humanists in the American context? How will interdisciplinary humanities researchers adapt to the changing political situation for their projects? For a discussion of these questions and more, Joel Fischer of Nottingham University will be joined by Samuel Baker and Lauren Tilton.

Samuel Baker teaches English Literature at the University of Texas at Austin, where he helped organize the Good Systems ethical AI grand challenge initiative, now a multimillion-dollar research group.

Lauren Tilton, E. Claiborne Robins Professor of Liberal Arts and Digital Humanities at the University of Richmond, co-directs the Distant Viewing Lab, which uses and develops computational techniques to analyse visual culture. She is co-President of the Association for Computing and the Humanities (ACH), the digital humanities organization for the USA, and President-Elect of the Association of Digital Humanities Organizations (ADHO), the international organization of digital humanities.

This webinar will be chaired by Professor Joel Fischer, Chair Research Pillar, Responsible Ai UK.
