The Skills Pillar has led a thorough landscape analysis and multidisciplinary review of the current state of RAI learning, education, and resources in the UK, conducted by a multidisciplinary team comprising members from academic institutions, industry partners, and civil society organizations within the RAI UK ecosystem.

Insights Report – Landscape Analysis of Responsible AI Educational Resources

Four makers of effective RAI Skills resources were identified from this work and are used for RAI’s resource review:

  1. Engagement with the context
  2. Sociotechnical and multidisciplinary definition of RAI
  3. Establishing credibility of providers
  4. Implementing inclusive, learner‐centred approaches.

A UK perspective on responsible education for responsible AI: a multidisciplinary review and evaluation framework 

The RAi researchers leading this work:

Dr. Maira Klyshbekova is a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Artificial Intelligence and Education at King’s College London. Her research undertakes an interdisciplinary approach, exploringthe intersection of education and AI. Within the RAi Skills Pillar, Dr Klyshbekova contributes to initiatives that promote the development of innovative training resources and frameworks for Responsible AI, with the aim of delivering best practices for learners, educators and training providers. She also serves as Co-Convenor of the Artificial and Human Intelligence Special Interest Group at the British Educational Research Association. Currently, she is involved in the RAi Cornerstone Sub-project, CulturAI: Informing Cultural Alignment for Text to Image Generators. Furthermore, she acts as a Principal Investigator for RAi’s Skills Pillar project exploring multidisciplinary collaboration in AI research.

Dr Gisela Reyes Cruz is a Transitional Assistant Professor at the University of Nottingham. She researches Human-Computer, Human-Robot and Human-AI Interaction to understand everyday life interactions, trust, public acceptance and ethical concerns of various technologies, in order to inform responsible system design, design practices and responsible use. Within the RAi Skills Pillar, Dr. Reyes Cruz has led the landscape analysis of RAI educational initiatives and resources identified online, and contributed to the multidisciplinary review of these resources. She is the Principal Investigator of the RAi Cornerstone project “CulturAI: Informing Cultural Alignment for Text to Image Generators” and is supporting other RAi Skills Pillar initiatives, such as the AI+us alliance.
