Dr Konstantina Martzoukou (Associate Professor and Course Leader) and colleagues from the Generative Artificial Intelligence Skills in Schools (GenAISiS) skills project, partnered with secondary school students to explore the responsible use of Generative AI (GenAI). 

Maddie is Online Series 5 Cartoons 

They co-created open educational resources, articulating student voice and enacting student experience via fictitious characters and cartoons. A YouTube series of the cartoons is available and covers topics including Gen AI, Navigating data privacy and safety, LLMs and bias, Human insight and Gen AI oversight.

Additionally, the team co-produced an open educational toolkit with resources on Gen AI academic integrity, information literacy and critical thinking skills in schools, which was widely disseminated via open workshops. The toolkit includes lesson plans and activities on the following themes:

  • Understanding Gen AI 
  • Data safety, privacy, trust  
  • Prompt engineering  
  • Fact checking bias and misrepresentation  
  • Reflections on challenges and opportunities
