The Misinformation/Disinformation and Generative AI: Building Young Refugees’ Skills and Capacities skills project worked with young refugees and asylum seekers (YRAS), educators and third-sector organisations, to develop Self-Organised Learning Environment activities, Action Learning Sets and resources focused on increasing YRAS’ skills and capacities in: Misinformation/disinformation, Generative AI, Responsible AI, and engaging with their wider communities on these issues.

The team have also been able to build a partnership with The Guardian Foundation who are interested in using some of the learning resources as part of their NewsWise programme for young children in schools. In addition, the team are exploring the potential use of learning resources in libraries in the Northeast of England.

  • AI_Media : topics/activities include How to spread false information, Creating false information, Fact checking news you receive, Role playing receiver roles
  • Media Literacy : topics/activities include Trusted Sources of Information, Information Targeting, Spotting Fake News, Identifying the difference between fact and opinion, Spotting incorrect information, The impact of incorrect information, Checking accuracy of information
