Dr. Xiaoliang Wu

University of Southampton

Xiaoliang Wu is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Southampton, working within the UK’s National Edge AI Hub. She received her PhD in Informatics from the University of Edinburgh, where her research focused on explainable and trustworthy speech AI. Her current work investigates how speech-based systems—such as automatic speech recognition, speaker verification, and paralinguistic analysis—can be made more transparent, reliable, and suitable for deployment on edge devices. Within Responsible AI UK, she contributes to advancing explainability and accountability in speech and multimodal AI, supporting the network’s mission to promote responsible and human-centred AI technologies across critical domains.
